At Blue Collar Media Group, we specialize in capturing high-quality, engaging video content that tells a brand’s story. Our latest shoot with iFOAM, a spray foam insulation company and part of the Horsepower family of brands, was an exciting challenge. This marked our third project with Horsepower, having previously filmed for Gatsby Glass and Heroes Lawn Care.
Spray foam insulation creates a unique filming environment. Protecting our equipment was critical, as airborne foam particles could easily damage lenses and delicate camera components. We relied on our Sony FX3 cameras, which offered the perfect balance of mobility and durability. Bulkier equipment wouldn’t have worked—we needed to maneuver through tight spaces and stay mobile to capture the insulation process in action. Having the right gear and preparation made all the difference.
The goal of this shoot was to create three impactful branding videos:
🎬 A customer testimonial – Highlighting real experiences and the impact of iFOAM’s services.
🎬 The customer journey – Walking potential clients through the process of working with iFOAM.
🎬 A promotional brand video – Designed for national use across all iFOAM locations.
Since these videos were filmed in Arizona, we had to ensure the footage could be used anywhere in the country. This meant carefully selecting shots that didn’t overly feature Arizona-specific landscapes, keeping the content relevant for all markets. Understanding where and how a video will be used is key to creating effective content.
Every shoot presents unexpected challenges, and this one was no exception. One major lesson reinforced during this project was that scripting should be a guide, not a rule. Initially, we had a fully scripted customer testimonial, but during filming, it felt too rehearsed and unnatural. We pivoted to a Q&A-style interview, allowing the customer to speak authentically, making the final video far more engaging and genuine.
This is where experience sets Blue Collar Media Group apart. As Patrick Carr, CEO of Blue Collar Media Group, puts it:
“There is no substitute for experience in the field. Our clients pay us to see the things they can’t. Anyone can pick up a camera, but it takes an experienced professional to use that camera to tell a story.”
From protecting equipment to adjusting on the fly to ensure the most authentic storytelling, our team knows how to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver outstanding content. This iFOAM shoot was another example of why choosing experienced professionals for your brand’s video production makes all the difference.
